Acting on information received through civilians sources the security forces uncovered a claymore mine weighing 12kg, inside a building at 'Gemunu Palace' area in Wattala, along the Negombo main road, today (05) at 11.05a.m.
The building located at 'Gemunu Palace', No: 146/5, Negombo Road- Wattala was owned by a private firm registered as 'Satlink Network Pvt. Ltd'.
According to the Wattala Police sources seven suspects were taken into custody including one ethnically Sinhalese female. Reports further added that one suspect was a resident from Jaffna who failed to prove his proper identity.
The other arrested were residents from the Modara and Mattakkuliya area, in the outskirts of Colombo, the sources further added.
The SL Army bomb disposal team had defused the mine averting any possible tragedy to life or property
