SL army troops skirmished with a group of LTTE terrorists in the Athawatunuweva area in Weli-Oya this afternoon (28). The troops were fired up on by the LTTE terrorists, while conducting a foot patrol. The terrorists have withdrawn in the face of the army retaliation.
Subsequently, radio communication among the LTTE cadres has revealed that two LTTE cadres were killed and two others were injured in the attack. One army soldiers also suffered minor injuries.
Separately, at Kodikamam in Jaffna, army troops found two claymore mines each weighing 10 Kgs on a civilian tip off this morning (28). One of the mines was found hidden in a thicket while the other was found inside an abandon building.
