Sri Lanka ruling party's devolution proposals to be further amended

May 06, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) committee that compiled the party's power devolution proposals to solve the ethnic problem will meet again on Tuesday to make adjustments.

The SLFP proposals were meanwhile clarified to the Indian government by Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, who has now returned from India on his private visit, Sri Lanka government sources said.

The SLFP proposals, which have been rejected by both pro- and anti-government political parties, have not yet been presented to the All Party Representative Committee (APRC). President Mahinda Rajapaksa wishes to make some amendments to the proposals before presenting them to the APRC. It is learnt that the party will seek Central Committee approval before that.
