SL Naval troops successfully repulse LTTE ground movement- Thiriyaya

The SL Naval troops successfully repulsed an intended LTTE terrorist movement in the coast off Thriyaya, 12 miles south east of Polmuddai, on Sunday the 06th of May, at 08.30a.m.

According to the Naval Spokesperson, Commander D.K.P Dassannayake, the Naval ground troops had observed the terrorist movement along the coastal line off Thriyayay, and had engaged small arms fire immediately. "It is believed that the terrorists had sustained heavy casualties during the naval onslaught" the Spokesperson further added.

Meantime, a wounded sailor was admitted to the general hospital at Trincomalee said the Naval officials.

Earlier, on 04th May 10 LTTE terrorist were killed while 12 others sustained injured when SL Naval units comprehensively thwarted an attempted terrorist sea move towards the Polmoddai un-cleared area.
