Three civilians killed in LTTE claymore mine explosion- Ampara

Three civilians including two Muslims were killed in the latest LTTE claimed atrocity targeting innocent civilians at the Nerukulama village area, 15 kilometres south of Thirikkovil in the Ampara District, today(27) at 06.30p.m.

LTTE terrorists detonated a claymore mine targeting a 'Canter vehicle' plying along the Akkaraepattuwa- Pothuvil main road sending the vehicle off road, claiming three innocent lives.

Two of the dead were identified as Adamlebbai Abdhul Lathif(49) and Adambavah Mohommad Hamid(29), both residents in the Akkaraepattuwa General area. According to the Thirikkovil Police sources, the explosion was triggered off between the 215 and 216 mile posts along the Akkaraepattuwa-Pothuvil main Road.

Meanwhile, the Police sources said that another civilian body transferred to the Thirikkovil General Hospital morgue was yet to be identified.

The Tirikkovil Police officials are conducting further investigations.

Earlier, on Thursday(24) LTTE terrorists triggered a claymore mine in Colombo killing two Army personnel and injuring two others.
