LTTE sets fire on to a public bus- Jaffna

A group of LTTE supporters have set on fire to a public bus belonged to Kondavil depot this morning. According to the defence sources in Jaffna, a group of armed LTTE gang has attacked the bus around 7.20a.m whilst it was playing form Maradanamadam to Urimpirai on the Jaffna-Palali main road.

A civilian speaking to the defence.lk said that the passengers of the bus were threatened by a group of "boys" showing hand grenades and forced them to get out before they set fire on to the bus.

"They were just a group of teenage bicycle riders, possible school children. They threatened our lives saying that we should not go out during the protest initiated by the LTTE in the Jaffna peninsula", he said.

According to the civilian sources the LTTE has changed its strategy with regard to child soldiering in the Jaffna peninsula.

"Now they (LTTE) recruit school children in an informal manner and compel them to engage in terrorist activities" a civilian speaking in anonymity told our special correspondent.

According to the same sources, a pro-terror student cult backed by a political figure in the LTTE payroll is implementing this new LTTE strategy in the Jaffna peninsula.

"They (LTTE) sometimes put claymore mines, hand grenades and etc. in to the schoolbags and force the schoolchildren move the weapons from place to place", the sources further added.

Meanwhile, the defence sources said that the protest campaign initiated by the LTTE has been completely ignored by the Jaffna civilians.
