Archbishop calls on the President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asserted that the government's desire is to find solutions to problems of the North and East, ensuring maximum security to the Tamil civilians and consolidating their rights.

The President pointed this out to the Archbishop of Canterbury Most Rev. Dr. Rowan Williams when he called on him today, Thursday the 10th of May. The President briefed him on the national conflict and the government's programme to achieve peace. Referring to the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka, the President emphasised the government's dedication to sort out the problem through negotiations.
