Indian PM announces unilateral liberalization of visas through the region

Apr 03, Colombo: To ascertain freer and easier travel within the South Asian region, India is announcing a unilateral liberalization of visas for students, teachers, professors, journalists and patients from SAARC countries, said the Indian Prime Minister in his speech inaugurating the 14th SAARC summit in New Delhi.

Singh also proposed that efforts be made to link all capitals of SAARC member countries through direct flights. “As an immediate step, I propose that we link all our capitals through direct flights,” he said.

Indian Prime Minister called for more efforts to double the intra-SAARC flow of tourists in the next five years.
