LTTE attempt to infiltrate the FDL averted - Mannar

The LTTE terrorists have launched an attack at the Forward Defence Line in Mannar in early hours this morning, Friday July 20.

According to the defence sources an Army detachment at Neelachchena in the Mannar area came under LTTE mortar attack around 2:45 a.m. today and security forces have retaliated inflicting casualties to the LTTE.

Media Centre for National Security says three army soldiers were killed and other four were wounded due to the incident.

By intercepting the LTTE communication, it is revealed that at least 9 LTTE cadres were killed and more that 20 received injuries due to the effective retaliation launched by army troops.

According to latest information, following list of items has been uncovered by the security forces in a subsequent search operation conducted in the area where the confrontation took place.
