Lanka forum picks panel

THE Sri Lankan Coordinating Committee (SLCC) announced its new office-bearers for 2007-08 during its second annual general meeting over the weekend at the Sri Lankan embassy.
Sri Lankan Ambassador S B Atugoda lauded the efforts of the outgoing committee in helping needy compatriots, especially those from the low income category.
He urged more community members to be involved in serving the needy and provide assistance to the SLCC in its endeavour to help workers who face various hardships in their work and other matters.
Expressing appreciation for the members’ contributions toward the forum’s activities, he said that younger people employed in banks, hotels and other organisations should come forward and assist the forum in every possible way.

New SLCC president Lenny Cramer pointed out that launching of the Sri Lankan Community Benevolent Fund (SLCBF) is an important milestone for the community.
He stressed the importance of more Sri Lankans joining the forum and extending their support for its continued success.

Presenting the annual report, outgoing general secretary Anura Wijeratna listed the achievements of the SLCC during the year and mentioned successful events.
The financial report for the period 2006/2007 was later presented by the forum’s treasurer Lalindra de Silva.

The new office-bearers president Lenny Cramer, VP benevolent fund Ranjith Wijekoon, VP business promotion Chelliah Srikanth, VP welfare and fund raising Pantalion Perera, general secretary Ruwan Lankeshwara, treasurer Lalindra de Silva, assistant general secretary Anura Wijeratna, assistant treasurer M V Sithravel, chief event coordinator Nimal Tudewatte and auditors Al Dosari Auditing and Accounting.
